Since it’s on a Swedish site, this probably doesn’t qualify for the regular NP or CP, but I felt that it should be shared with the world.

The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is carried out by what Google tells me is “The Swedish Enforcement Authority”. Basically, it’s the authority that handles repossession and various debts. Normally while browsing their auctions for strange cars I feel bad about the owners who have lost them, but not this time.

The car is listed as a “modified Toyota MR2". As anyone can see, it’s clearly a genuine Ferrari fitted with a Toyota hardtop for weight saving purposes.

The rest of the advert goes as follows (translated for those unfortunate souls who haven’t yet been taught Swedish):

The car has been modified with plastic bodywork. Hard top in contrasting colour is included (soft top has not been checked) Spare keys, winter tires, manuals and service history are all unavailable. Motorsport alloys 19" with 245/35 tires. Lockable wheel nuts, the existence of keys is uncertain (car is registered with 185/55 15) CD player and large speakers are installed, various cables have been cut. Converted to electric doors, left door can not be opened, right door can only be opened manually and from the inside. Dampeners for hood and front boot are missing. Poorly fitting bodywork/certain components are loose, paintwork in poor condition, front wheels cut into fenders at full steering lock, mesh in front of hood missing etc etc. The car is to be considered a project car. Started, not taken for a test drive.

Unfortunately, we can not arrange shipping for this object.

So what do you say, dear Oppos? NP? It should be noted that while the estimated value of the car is set to 20,000 SEK (roughly $2400), the bidding has for some reason reached 43,500 SEK ($5000-ish) at the time of writing.

To be fair, though, the ones in front of the doors would only have to be a tiny bit bigger to get away with being air vents for something.

I mean for a kit-car, to be honest, it’s not terrible. There are way worse Ferrari kits out there going for higher prices. I wouldn’t buy it, but for even $5k it’d make a decent enough beater. I probably wouldn’t have minded driving it in high school. The panel gaps can probably be cleaned up with some effort. I’d file this somewhere between meh and not for me ..

Thanks for posting it though. Seeing bad kits make me like my stock looking fastback Fiero that much more.

It makes sense for a Swedish car. In Sweden the taxes are very very expensive. A Mercedes sl550 costs as much as a real Ferrari.

a) I’m Swedish, and no, this doesn’t make sense for a Swedish car. Taxes on cars are high, but not much higher than in the rest of Europe. The base model VW Golf, for example, is 197,500 SEK (20,903€). In Germany, the same car with the same spec is 21,400€.
b) Unless I’m mistaken, the SL550 isn’t currently sold in Sweden.
